FAQ

What do I do if my child is late?

After 8:00, report to the office via the Evans Street door, sign in and Marcia will give a key to parents to let themselves in.

Should I call in to the school if my child will be absent?

Yes. Marcia documents illnesses for the Health Dept. and informs the teachers of the absence.

Where do I find information regarding closings?

BGA follows the District 87 closing schedule. If they close for weather, we close. That doesn’t, however, mean we might not choose to close in they don’t. In that case, if there is any question, families should listen to WEEK TV (Channel 25 or 10 on cable) and WJBC radio (1230 AM).
It is the responsibility of the parent to listen to these networks to gain accurate information about school closings. If the school needs to close for reasons other than weather (water pipe break, no heat or electricity, etc.), then teachers will call all of their families.

What type of security is available for the safety of the children?

Each floor where classrooms are located are enclosed by security doors on either end. Only staff members have keys to access these doors.
Parents who arrive after 8am must sign in to receive a key for the purpose of taking their child to their classroom. In case of a fire alarm, the doors automatically unlock providing quick exits.

How soon can my child come back to school after a fever?

They must be fever free without the assistance of medication (Tylenol) for 24 hours before they can return.

What are the school office hours?

The office is open from 7:50-4:30. Messages left on the answering machine will be returned the next school day.

Can treats be brought to the school for special occasions?

Do you have a school store?

The middle school students run a school store. They do the accounting for the project as part of their math curriculum. The proceeds are used for them to go on an educational and recreational over-night trip in the spring. Most inventory at the school store is $4 or less.
