Our Educational Programs

In order to further promote our commitment to individual progress and development, we do not use traditional grade-level designations. The Early Learner, Elementary, and Middle School programs are divided into several classes. Class make-up is decided by faculty with input from parents. Placement decisions take into account a number of developmental factors such as overall language and math abilities, social maturity, and readiness to take personal responsibility for one's own education. The number of years children spend at each level depends on their individual patterns of development, but most children have the same teacher for two years.

Early Learner Program

Young children are eager to learn and grow. The early years are critical to the entire educational process. The five-day Blooming Grove Academy Early Learner Program stresses logical thinking and creative expression. Language skills, math concepts, creative arts, and motor development are the foundation for the academic work of Early Learners. Structured learning time is supplemented with time for the Early Learners to choose their own work-time activities.

Elementary Program

Elementary classes are deliberately kept small at Blooming Grove. This allows students to get personalized instruction in language, literacy, arts, math, social studies and science. Because individual learning styles are respected, students are challenged and stimulated to learn. Regular individual student/teacher meetings, called advising sessions, are important ways to check progress.

Middle School Program

Middle School classes are deliberately kept small at BGA.  This allows students to get personalized instruction in language, literacy, arts, math, social studies and science.  Because individual learning styles are respected, students are challenged and stimulated to learn.  Regular individual student/teacher meetings, called advising sessions, allow progress to be monitored.  Middle School students have an added pleasure - Selective Courses, of their choice, are available for a six-week period.  The curriculum serves to motivate and reinforce academic learning as well as promote one of BGA's core 4 "R's" - Resourcefulness.
